NEAR ON THE ROAD

Willfried Vandenhove

The object that comes to alter the landscape and after a short time almost immediately becomes part of it, it changes the space, landscape assimilates the foreigner and accepts it as own, the object turned landscape remains impassive, the days pass, the seasons… and waits to be observed, to be in the eyes of the one who discovers it not expecting it.

The border between the real and the constructed by chance and then takes shape in the obsession of repetition, of the discovered trace, of the coincidence in the dust that passes and accumulates in this journey. The obsession for the vestiges, for finding and validating through his gaze the empty space, transforming it into a dystopian landscape, in a certain serene but apocalyptic way, residue of that silent and constant battle of the object with the environment that transforms it into an inhabitant, and in the eyes of the photographer, into a character of his stories.
